Career Reflection & Continuous Learning
My internship at the Science STEM Outreach Promotion Program has been instrumental in shaping my career direction. Working on the 18-year contribution report strengthened my data management, visualization, and reporting skills, which align with my goal of becoming a Database Administrator and, eventually, a Data Analyst in healthcare.
The hands-on experience of collaborating with teams and translating non-technical feedback into data solutions reinforced my passion for using data to drive improvements. This internship has clarified my career path and motivated me to pursue continuous learning, building the foundation for future roles in digital health and analytics.
Job Opportunities: Timeline
Present:
As a graduate, my immediate goal is to build practical experience by working within organizations that manage databases. I aim to develop a deep understanding of database maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. Additionally, I will actively seek opportunities to enter the healthcare sector, where I can get familiar with healthcare record systems, such as MySQL and hospital information systems like HBCIS, to understand how data is stored, managed, and retrieved in a clinical environment. Through this experience, I will lay the foundation for transitioning into a healthcare-focused data role.

Two Years Later:
In the next two years, I aspire to transition into a Data Analyst role in Digital Health and Clinical Information Services. This role will allow me to apply my data analytics skills to solve real-world challenges in healthcare. By working in this position, I will gain hands-on experience in creating dashboards, visual reports, and data tables that offer actionable insights. I want to dive deeper into using the results of my analysis to improve both business outcomes and patient care. Collaborating with various healthcare stakeholders, including clinicians and business units, I aim to learn how to tailor my data-driven recommendations to meet the diverse needs of healthcare services and drive operational improvements.

Five Years Goal:
Looking ahead, my five-year goal is to become a Principal Data Analyst. In this leadership position, I will focus on managing data and analytics initiatives that enhance healthcare delivery and business efficiency. My role will involve overseeing the development of advanced reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics products, ensuring they align with both clinical and executive needs. I also aim to provide strategic advice and data management expertise to support decision-making processes. I aspire to lead collaborative efforts within multidisciplinary teams, fostering strong relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. By achieving this position, I will not only grow professionally but also contribute meaningfully to improving healthcare outcomes through data analytics.
